On behalf of the MS Bike team, an enormous thank you goes out to everyone that took part in the MS Bike – Prince Edward County event. Over 200 participants raised an amazing $135,000! Your hard work and dedication will benefit thousands of Canadians who are affected by multiple sclerosis. Together, we will end MS!

Our first 2013 MS Bike event is finally here! Today hundreds of riders will be gearing up in Prince Edward County to make a difference in the lives of those affected by MS. To check-in, you’ll need to completely fill in your pledge sheets and pledge submission form, including the dollar amount you are submitting on event day, your prize choice (if applicable) and the waiver. You can download and print a copy of each from your Participant Centre.

Rider Profile: It’s only getting better for Team Captain Keefe Valladares

When Keefe Valladares and his colleagues at Bombardier wanted to help members of their community, they decided to form a team and register for the MS Bike Tour for the first time. “We wanted this to be a team event and an opportunity to get to know one another outside of work,” says Keefe. “We also wanted to support a good cause, and the MS Society was our choice.”

His nine-member team participated in the inaugural MS Bike Tour – Prince Edward County on July 8, 2012.  Together, they raised more than $7000 for people affected by MS through a $1000 gift from their employer, Bombardier Transportation, 50/50 draws, jeans day in their office and reaching out to friends and family.

“What I really stressed to anyone I asked for donations, is that people with MS are not the only ones being affected by this disease; the people around them are impacted as well. By raising funds, we are also supporting their loved ones,” says Keefe.

As a relatively new cyclist, Keefe found the Tour to be a positive experience.  “We were lucky to have had great weather.  Prince Edward County is a short drive away from Kingston, but it was great to get out and see a different area,” says Keefe.  As for the future, he has already lined up cyclists for next year’s Tour, adding, “next year will only get better!”

MS Bike Tour – Prince Edward County a great success!

This past weekend over 200 participants cycled through picturesque Picton for the inaugural MS Bike Tour – Prince Edward County, and raised an amazing $135,000 in support of those living with MS! Cyclists arrived early on Sunday in great spirits and excited to get on the road, and they couldn’t have asked for better weather!  We would like to thank all the dedicated participants, enthusiastic supporters, and hard-working volunteers, whom we couldn’t have done it without!

MS Bike Tour Event Day Countdown - Only 5 more days until the inaugural MS Bike Tour – Prince Edward County!

This Sunday, July 8 marks the first official MS Bike Tour in beautiful Prince Edward County! Cyclists will ride a 75 km route on this picturesque island in support of MS research as well as services and programs for those living with the disease. If you haven’t already signed up, it’s never too late… REGISTER today! 

Don’t forget, this Saturday is the Toronto MEC Bike Fest!

The Toronto MEC Bike Fest will be held this Saturday, June 23. Event entrance is free! Workshops and clinics are $5 each with proceeds being donated to our community partner, Cycle Toronto (formerly the Toronto Cyclists Union).
