Maintaining your Chain

Just like a car, your bike needs regular maintenance to promote proper functionality. Your bikes chain keeps everything moving just like our heart beat keeps our body moving. The chain is also the part of your bike that takes the majority of wear and tear. This is why it is important to keep your chain in pristine condition and clean your chain regularly. The dirt that gets caught in your chain can cause your chain to wear, affect the flexibility of individual chain links and interfere with changing gears.

Cleaning your bike is simple, before you ride, make sure to look at your chain and rotate your pedal slowly backwards, keeping an eye out for dirt buildup, rust and tight links. To get rid of any buildup, brush out links with a tooth brush and re-lubricate your chain to decrease the buildup of dirt and maintain the chains durability. Lastly, wipe off any extra lubricant and off you go!
